Earlier this year I
met with HPFs US Agent to discuss some of the new features of the well known
Pinhole detector, the EOK CR. We focus on the pinhole size, the angle of the
cavity wall and the new intelligent features of the pinhole detector which make
it ideal for retrofit.
Below the video is the transcript of our conversation:
Gregor Rauch:
This is an
intelligent pinhole detector with a microcontroller inside the pinhole
detector. So we no longer need to connect to the PLC in order to integrate into
the machine.
We have a touch
screen here from which we can choose our holes sizes. We also have our own
shift register and are able to logon according to CFR 21 Part 11.
Now you see this
panel up here. That is there so that you can swipe an RFID card to log on.
Questioner:
Ah Individual Passwords
Gregor Rauch:
Individual Passwords
- yes
Questioner:
So you don’t need an extra
machines HMI at all? You Just go direct to this.
Gregor Rauch:
That’s right, we can
connect straight to the reject and importantly, because we have a
microcontroller, you can collect reject information based on the pinhole
detector.
Questioner:
It would be easy to retrofit?
Gregor Rauch:
Its very easy to
retrofit. We have an ethernet port on the back so we can output data to a SCADA
or MES system or to a LAN to remotely access the data.
Questioner:
Are you able to see bigger
angles now?
Gregor Rauch:
Yes, for this new
generation of pinhole detector, the hole size detected is now independent of
the position in the cavity and the angle. We can go down to an 85 degree angle…
and still detect down to 5 microns.
Questioner:
So Even if you have a very
steep walled cavity, say 85 degrees, I can still see a 5 micron hole?
Gregor Rauch:
Yes
Questioner:
Wow
Gregor Rauch:
It doesn’t matter
where we have the pinhole of on the foil or cavity, we can still detect down to
5 microns.
