We were looking to build a faster and more flexible vertical cartoner. The magnetic transport system allows us to increase the length of the machine to accommodate as many processes or stations as we need. The movers can be controlled independently allowing us to double up stations for slower processes maximising throughput.
We can draw on our vast range of stations used on our vertical cartoners to create a bespoke solution for our customers. The stations could be fully automatic or semi-automatic.
Flexibility
Output
The machine is designed to output up to 120 cartons per minute. However, many customers don’t need high outputs in terms of cartons. Often large numbers of sachets, stick packs or other products are collated into the same carton. This machine will allow us to make use of the redundant capacity we sometimes see on our other machines where the loading stations limit the actual throughput of the machine. A tea packing line, for example, might produce 300 tea bags per minute, of which 10 go into each carton. Here the bottleneck is the loading of 300 bags. This machine will allow us to achieve the 300 bags per minute which in this case is only 30 cartons per minute. Because of the modularity of the machine we can eliminate the bottlenecks in the process to get the best bang for our buck!
Changeover
Based on our experience with the automatic changeover of our existing range of cartoners we expect changeover to take around 15 minutes.
